One of the patients hands you a basket of baked goods and wine for the holidays as a gift. What would you do?
Hi, my name is Davina and the situation is that I'm in is that I've taken over a clinic in a rural community. And one of the patients has just offered me a gift basket for the holidays as a physician. I have to be considerate of the professional boundaries between myself and the patient however in a rural community generally Physicians do have a better relationship and a stronger relationship with their patients.
Because of the small knit community that the clinic is found in as a physician, I would graciously accept the gift. However, I would urge the patient not to continue this practice because it does kind of violate the professional boundary between patient and physician and Crosses into the line of friendship and
And amicability. However, this they could have offered me the gift outside of the workplace and said at the clinic itself and yeah.
