The Cannabis Act came into action. Were there any concerns with how this was handled?
Hi, my name is Rebecca. And today I'll be talking about the concerns that could arise due to the fact that the Cannabis Act was passed by the federal government and then they were told that the municipal and the provincial governments had to deal with any efforts or Consequences. So, of course when the federal government examines whether or not should be passed they think about all the different factors that go into it the pros and cons and
And at the end of the day, they would choose they would choose to pass the ACT based on whether the car the pros outweigh the cons for the people in society in Canada, which is what the government ultimately wants to do. They want to benefit Society. They want to help us advance. So some concerns that could arise by having the government the federal and the municipal government dealing with the after-effects is that they will have less
sources and less time to deal with other issues or more pressing issues in within their jurisdiction such as Healthcare, which is a prominent issue especially during this period of time as covid-19 is the numbers are rising more resources and more time should be put into this as this is one of the main concerns of society when the government has more on their plate as what is being done when the kind of
Kind of this act is enacted. They may have less resources which they could all locate towards other areas that may be more pressing or maybe more important at the time and one effect that legalizing cannabis could do which is positive is helping the economy and the government is able to tax on the sales and which will help us and make our economy stronger, which is really important.
Because the jobs are generated in Canada and our livelihood is all dependent on once ability to secure a job and the economy and GDP of our country. So being able to tax people when they buy cannabis is really important the negative effect that could happen is that it creates this impression for the Youth that cannabis is is normalize and could be normalized. I
Personally, I know some people who are against the legalization of cannabis due to the fact that they think they were not never really exposed to marijuana before or cannabis and they only know about the effects that it could have when people take it as a recreational means and I think what thing that's really important when we deal with the effects of like backlash or protest that can occur when these the Cannabis Act was enacted.
Did is to educate people and let them know and listen to the people in society by listening. We build this trust between each other from the government and the citizens that they are working for because they are the people of the country the people that work for the government. So at the end of the day what really matters is understanding and creating this connection between the citizens and the government in order to establish good better understanding of why this act was enacted.
I acted and why what concerns that could rise from the citizens in that Province or the federal agency? So at the end of the day, it's really important to let our citizens know why these acts are enacted and then when issues do arise we want to deal with it transparently and let everyone know you will always handle issues that come when
Problems arise do you see any Acts or that were passed from the government? And we want to ensure the citizens that what we are doing is for their benefit and ultimately would benefit them and not create this impression that some people may have on cannabis and the legalization of cannabis that maybe more youths May potentially start using more cannabis due to this change of narrative that could happen due to the legalization of cannabis.
Cannabis, so it's really important at the end of the day to educate everyone on the reasons. Why and I think ultimately it's really important to have that human connection because it is human nature to be a social creature. So it is important for us to allow others to understand understand why certain acts are put in place and explain to them why and how they are going to deal with any issues and the effects that they could have won.
