Hi, my name is Tamara. So we're going to be discussing the discrepancy and the impact of the discrepancy between the wages that Physicians receive versus other Allied Health Professionals. In terms of the reasons for the discrepancy between the wages received by physicians compared to other Allied health professionals. I think there are likely three main reasons for this one of this is because of the degree of specialization.
At some positions have because Physicians are slightly more specialized than other Allied health professionals who are more generalist and their roles. This could be one of the reasons why they are paid more. This also leads into one of my other reasons that I proposed which could be because of the difference in length of Education received by physicians versus other Allied health professionals because Physicians usually receive more years of education to become Physicians versus other Allied health professionals. This could be another reason why their wages are higher and this education often is longer for those who are more specialized and these more specialized Physicians are greater experts in their field and there's more scar City. Once you get to the higher levels of specialization, which also leads to the higher wage. Hey.
Another potential reason for the differences in wage between Physicians and other Allied health professionals could be because of the differences in the roles that these Healthcare professionals play in the team that provides care physicians usually play the role of the leader, even though all Allied health professionals and Health Care Professionals roles in the team are very important positions usually play the role of the leader. They're involved in the decision-making and the delegation of tasks and because of this role of the leader, they this could be a reason for a higher wage as well.
And potential impact of this discrepancy and wage is differences in the hours that these Healthcare professionals work. So because for example nurses are paid less than Physicians
nurses work much longer hours than Physicians do this could have other impacts such as perhaps nurses having a greater risk of burnout because they're working longer hours and they're also working very high stress jobs. And this could lead to. This chronic stress could lead to burnout and health consequences as well.
